You and I

You and I

Glaring sunshine, the airer, the bed sheet,

hide and seek at the concert of wind

laundry pegs dancing in circles,

summer lawn fresh and soft.

Pine lined alley, hand in hand

steal a kiss when a passerby turned,

embarrassingly caught, hurriedly contrived

a vocal debate.

Ties, screws, drills and wooden fence.

took no heed of the rain at work and thereafter

shingle beach, sunset, oak hill, horse meadow.

register in shadows-overlapping warmth.

Sofa, coffee,computers,

you compose a quote and I write a poem

Like railways join and depart,

we share the journey jolly delight.
